Meeting of the Informal Ad Hoc Working Group towards a Scientific Network for the Caucasus Mountain Region
The first meeting of the Ad Hoc Informal Working Group took place on 27-28 November 2013. It was attended by nominated representatives of the stakeholders of the Caucasus Cooperation Platform (Ankara University, National Academy of Science Republic of Armenia, Institute of Geography of the Russian Federation, I.Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Ilia State University and University of Malayer) and representatives of partners (NALAG, UNEP Vienna Office, University of Geneva, Ilia State University, GRID Arendal, European Academy Bolzano/EURAC). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss possible appropriate institutional arrangements for the scientific network as well as key themes and research priorities relevant to sustainable mountain development in the Caucasus.
At the end of the meeting, the members of the Ad Hoc Informal Working Group finalized a draft MoU on the establishment of the Scientific Network for the Caucasus Mountain Region (SNC-mt); the working group was then transformed into the SNC-mt Scientific Steering Group.
