Caucasus Network for Sustainable Development of Mountain Regions Signs the Memorandum of Understanding with the Akaki Tsereteli Kutaisi State University

On April 20, 2021, in Kutaisi, the Caucasus Network for Sustainable Development of Mountain Regions (Sustainable Caucasus) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Akaki Tsereteli Kutaisi State University.

The purpose of this cooperation is to facilitate the involvement of various stakeholders in international scientific networks and to jointly organise the third Caucasus Mountain Forum. Held biannually, the forum is a scientific conference and gives Caucasian and international scientists and other stakeholders the opportunity to share experiences and knowledge, as well as assess the progress of Caucasian scientific research for the sustainable development of mountain regions over the past two years.

Within the framework of the memorandum, Akaki Tsereteli Kutaisi State University will host the third Caucasus Mountain Forum scheduled for September 2021. It also ensures the involvement of academic staff and students in the Caucasus Mountain Forum.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic further demonstrated the critical role of science in addressing global challenges. Knowledge sharing between scientists and society enables us to find solutions and make appropriate decisions to address economic, social, and environmental challenges and to achieve sustainable development goals.

The Caucasus Mountain Forum is a key initiative of the Scientific Network for the Caucasus Mountain Regions which has been a tradition since 2016. The forum is held every two years and brings together about 200 participants from the Caucasus and Europe.
