Biography :
Niklas Nilsson is a PhD Candidate at Södertörn University / Uppsala University and is a Fulbright Visiting Student Researcher at Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies (IERES) at George Washington University, Washington D.C,during the academic year 2012–13.
He holds an M.A. degree in Political Science from Lund University, with a specialization in security and development in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. He has also studied East European transitions and EU enlargement at the Budapest University of Economic Sciences and Public Administration, and Russian Language at Stockholm and Uppsala Universities.
He has previously been a guest researcher at the Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies, Tbilisi, and at the Kiev Mohyla Academy, Kiev.
At ISDP, Mr. Nilsson is Associate Editor of the Central Asia – Caucasus Analyst and conducts research on the Caucasus and the Wider Black Sea Region, with a specific focus on international politics, conflict, and energy security.
