Biography :

Ravza Mavlyanova (Uzbekistan) is the Acting Director of AVRDC Central & West Asia and North Africa, based in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She is responsible for developing regional partnerships and projects. Dr. Mavlyanova has more than 30 years of experience in plant genetic resources, breeding, seed production and agronomy. She received a PhD in breeding and seed production from the Vavilov Institute, St. Petersburg, Russia in 1984 and a Doctor of Agricultural Sciences from the Uzbek Research Institute of Cotton Breeding and Seed Production (UzRICBSP), Tashkent, Uzbekistan in 1999. Prior to joining AVRDC in 2004 as Regional Coordinator for Central Asia and the Caucasus, Ravza served as Research Director of the Uzbek Research Institute of Plant Industry (UzRIPI) in Uzbekistan.
