Bio
Dr. Mamuka Tsereteli is a Director, Center for Black Sea-Caspian Studies at School of International Service at American University. He served as an Assistant Professor at School of International Service in 2007-2011. Dr. Tsereteli teaches classes on International Economic Policy and Energy and Security in Europe and Central Eurasia. Dr. Tsereteli also served as a member of the part time faculty at Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University in 2006-2007. He frequently speaks at the events related to international relations in Caucasus and Central Asia, economic development, energy security and country risk analysis. His areas of interests include international relations and international economic policy, economic and energy security, political and economic risk analysis and mitigation strategies, and business development. Dr. Tsereteli previously served as Founding Executive Director at the America-Georgia Business Council, Economic Counselor at the Embassy of Georgia in Washington, covering relationships with International Financial Institutions, US assistance programs and business initiatives.

Mamuka Tsereteli regularly teaches classes on international economic policy, international relations of Russia and Central Eurasia, and energy security. He has also taught classes on contemporary Russia, political risk analysis, and international crime and U.S. policy. In 2009 he initiated the Center for Black-Sea Caspian Studies at the School of International Service. He previously served as an executive director of the America-Georgia Business Council and economic counselor at the Embassy of Georgia in Washington, D.C., where he covered relationships with international financial institutions. Since 1995, Tsereteli has been actively involved in promoting the U.S. multiple pipeline strategy and energy security in Black Sea-Caspian region. He has assisted major energy companies in the process of understanding the local environment and existing and potential risk factors and of communicating their needs to local governments. Tsereteli is author of numerous policy papers, analyses, and articles in professional and popular media. He frequently speaks at events related to international relations in Central Eurasia, energy security, and country-risk analysis (International Energy Agency, SAIS, CSIS, Brookings, etc.). His areas of interest include Black Sea-Caspian region, international relations and international economic policy, economic and energy security, political and economic risk analysis and mitigation strategies, and business and economic development.
